Client Project | Asian Granny Remodel Reveal

Last weekend we moved my Gma into her newly remodeled house!
My parents and I did it true HGTV style and sent her away for the weekend while we packed and moved all of her things and then unpacked, hung pictures and staged everything... even down to the pantry!  It was a long 3 days, but the reveal on Sunday night was priceless and we would not have done it any other way!
Here is quick view of the before... {other progress posts here, here and here}

And now enough words... here is the reveal!
{be ready for picture overload!!}

 We wanted the space to be one big open space so we removed the wall separating the living room and kitchen.  This meant relocating the fridge.  We also used the other cabinets on the wall we removed, extended the island and then added a small tall pantry to the end of the run.
We replaced all of the counter tops with granite and finished the kitchen off with new appliances and a Carrera Marble subway backsplash.  We painted out the existing cabinets a matte black and they totally fit into my Gma's Asian Granny style!

All of her furniture she had from her existing house fit perfectly in the new living room.  I love how the black entertainment anchors the other wall opposite the new black kitchen cabinets.  The room has plenty of seating for large gatherings.

To give the dining room and the entry a defined space we installed a pony wall.  Now when you enter there is a foyer area, but a view of the rest of the house.  The only piece of furniture we didn't have was a formal dining table.  One a trip to one of mine and my mom's favorite thrift stores we found this table with 2 leaves and 6 chairs for $500!! It was in near perfect conditions and was exactly what we were looking for!  The chandelier was also a steal {thanks Pam!!}  We purchased it from a family friend.  It was a brassy gold, and though it was beautiful it was a little much for the space.  So we sprayed it a muted light copper.  I love the way it accents the asian panels!

Welcome home Grandma!

Wow Tiffany, your Gma is living large!! What a gorgeous space. I love how the black entertainment center echos the kitchen cabinetry, and how you incorporated all your Gma's things into a fresh new space! It looks fantastic and that is so great that you sent her away for the weekend and surprised her with a big reveal. She must be a wonderful lady.
