How To | DIY Hand Painted Stemware

That is right... you guessed it!
It is One Item Project Challenge time!
First item up.... Glass Paint!
As I was trying to brainstorm what I would use the glass paint for my mind kept coming back to my Thanksgiving day table.  This year I am having a small number of people so I can use my actual dining table and not bust out the folding tables... so I have been obsessed with narrowing down my place settings and decor.  I wanted to keep my table black and white with pops of gold.  As I was thinking what stemware I would use I thought it would be fun to jazz up some plain old stemware.

I like to have a water glass and a wine glass out for dinners so what better glass to use than the stemless wine glass?  Plus I can use them as wine glasses for other occasions!  I picked Martha Stewarts transparent glitter glass paint.  I taped the glasses off for that angled dipped look, and then cleaned the glasses with alcohol {as directed on the bootle}.  I applied the paint with a foam brush.  The last photo is of one coat.  I applied two.

For the stemmed wine glasses I decided on the Americana Glass Paint in Opaque and also the DecorArt Glass Paint Marker.  I have seen a few confetti stemless glasses with lots of color and wanted to mimic that look but in black.  After cleaning the glass and applying the paint, I let cure for an hour then placed it into a cold oven to heat up to 350 degrees for 30 min.  This paint was able to be oven cured, but the glitter was not allowed to be in the oven.  The wine glasses are now top rack dishwasher safe, and the glitter stemless will be dishwasher safe in 21 days!
{guess I will be hand washing them for Thanksgiving!!}

I am loving the pop of texture it brings to the table!  I also love that I now have 2 sets of 12 matching glasses!  Currently the largest set of matching wine glasses is 3!  I totally see my using these everyday!  And since they are dishwasher safe I totally will be!

Now go hop over to the other ladies taking the One Item Challenge!
