My House | Living & Dining Room Plans

Living Dining
After finishing my black and white striped panels for my Living/Dining room combo I am now super excited to put the finishing touches on the room.

Starting in the living room I will need to freshen up the gold and glass table I have with a new coat of spray paint, or maybe attack it with some rub and buff for a gold leafed look.  I need to make some pillows for the sofa... I am leaning towards the combo in the design board.  I have to decided to keep the lamps black, but think they need new shades.  Should I go plain white, or dress them up with a print?  I am leaning toward print.  I also want to lower that mirror and either paint it out or embellish it somehow.  I would really like to buy another one from Ikea, but not sure if the budget will allow for that.  And then down the long road I would like to 86 the white sofa and find 4 chairs and a round coffee table as a grouping to soften the room.  Right now I feel like all the furniture is lined up... the circle grouping would make it more interesting.

In the other part of the room is my dinning room.  I definitely need to replace that bad chandy!  I would love a vintage spudnick, but I have a few other ideas also.  I want to mirror the back of the hutch for some interest at the end of the room and style the hutch.  Once I decide on the chandy, I will select some scones for the sides of the hutch.  I will probably remove the pic by the fiddle when we install them.  I am going to paint and reupholster my cane barrel chair again.  I am stuck on what fabric to go with.  If I paint it black, should it be a statement fabric, a b&w fabric, something colorful?  Should I paint it a fun color?  I am sure when I come across it it will yell out to me, but that just hasn't happened yet.  I would like to find an interesting side table for next to the barrel chair.  I still need to finish the other 4 dining chairs and switch them to the blue.  It is a very small project, I just need to do it!  And again down the long road I would like to install some custom paneling around the room.  This would be simple DIY, but I have to get the hubs on board with spending the $ and doing the project.  Then after all of that... I think I will paint above the paneling.

What would your answers be to my design dilemmas?

You've got it all perfectly mapped out I think Tiffany! I would go with black for the caning chair and pic a colorful fabric with blues on it. It's easier to change fabric later on than re-paint furniture!

Love all your ideas!! The dining room will be so fab with paneling and sconces, not to mention a sputnik chandelier!! I think you should do a dip/paint look to that little side table. maybe just paint part of the legs...Oh this is going to be fun girl!

That custom paneling treatment is going to be fantastic. That is a long list :)

I LOVE the idea of sconces flanking the hutch. Since you're thinking of taking down the framed print from the wall once the sconces go in, you could easily move that frame above the hutch leaned against the wall with a few other frames of varying sizes to add some height and draw the eye up... black and white photography or something else on the neutral side to prevent from being TOO distracting maybe... a basket or two up there would also add some textural interest and additional storage. Pottery Barn always does such an amazing job with the styling... I'm thinking something similar to this above the hutch...

Can't wait to see how everything comes together!
