I am so excited to finally be finishing up one of the rooms in my house! It has only taken 7 months to complete one... but hey that is one off the list! Since I finally have my new cocktail table I am feeling the need to put some of the finishing touches on the room. Most of that will be the art. I always have such a hard time with that because I want something that will speak to me, but also don't want to spend a fortune for it... because it may "speak to me" but usually for only a 6 months or so before I stop listening to it!
I have been toying with the idea of taking a photo that I love and blowing it up like Jenny did from The Little Green Notebook. I love this simple idea... and super cost effective also! But of course the hubs has given me his option and we are not on the same page!
Here is the art in question:
This pic was taken on a Maui beach about 5 years ago when the hubs and I were on vacation. I love the way the ocean, beach, and palm trees are framed in! I was thinking more black and white, but the hubs would like something more vivid with a huge dose of color...
Here are the options:
Obviously the first two options are my choices, and the two middle are his. I think the last one is a generous compromise? But if we deviate from the black and white we then have to pay for a photo enlargement and not just the engineer drawings that are super cheap.
I would like to put it over my desk/computer area. There I think a black and white would be interesting and not conflicting with the shelves or fight against the large computer screen.
Now historically I have lost the battle when I have asked my very talented readers to tell me what you think... but what do you think?
Bold & Vivid or Vintage & Calming?
