Organize Month




It is Organize Month at Living Savvy!!!
Can you already believe it is February?  I know... the year has just flown by!  I have not even fully put my house back together after christmas... so I think it is time to get my butt in gear, find some extra storage in this house and get it organized!  Not only will I be sharing my tips for organizing my house and life this month, I have asked so many talented bloggers and designers to share their tips on keep their home, life, and schedule organized!  

Not only do I want to get my house in order, but I want to do it for as little money as possible {who doesn't}.  If you are on Pinterest {follow me} then you can find a ton of pictures to give you ideas.  This is where I go to harbor new ways to organize, reuse what I have, and make it look pretty all at the same time.

There are so many great ideas out there!  I think that organizing is personal to how a person and their family lives.  Hopefully this month I can share many different ways to be organized, even if you never were before!

Good morning Living Savvy readers! My name is Taylor and I blog over at Taylor Morgan Design. I am a fashion design student at FIT in NYC and live in a tiny cozy apartment in downtown Manhattan with my husband. Today, Tiffany asked me to share my favorite organizing tip with all you!

For as long as I can remember I have been what I call a "neat freak." To give you an idea, we had a housekeeper growing up and I was so particular about my room that at age 8 I asked our housekeeper to stop cleaning my room and doing my laundry because, I wanted to do it. True story. And my neat freakness continues strong today. You will often find me on deep cleaning sprees at 1 or 2 am (my husband loves it, not).

I asked my husband what he thought would be best for me to share with you about my crazy organizing/cleaning habits because I have a lot of them. But here is what he thinks is one of my biggest secrets to success with staying organized:

Have a place for everything and always keep it in that spot. 

Easier said than done for some. Some people will clean out everything, get organized but they don't stay organized simply because they don't always keep things in the exact same spot. You have to be strict with yourself and put things back from where you got them. It's the secret to staying organized. Label things if you have to.

I personally only use clear containers/drawers for organizing/storing things. That way you can visually see what is in the box without opening it. Then I label every single thing that is in that container or drawer. Literally. That way, when I am looking for something, I don't have to dig through the drawer because I know what is in there by simply reading the outside of the drawer/container. This really helps.

Our apartment is only 490 square feet, but I know where every thing is in this apartment, literally. How do you remember so much? BE CONSISTENT! Keep things where you put them, be strict with yourself, put something back where you got it from and you will stay organized. Hope this tip helps!
