Top 12 Highlights of 2012

Wow, what a year this has been!
As I have been enjoying my mini impromptu vacation from blogging I have been thinking about 2013 and all of the projects and goals I would like to accomplish in my house, on this blog, for my design business.  It made me think about all that I accomplished in 2012 and I have to say... it has been an amazing year!

No Spend Challenge

In January I challenged myself to not spend a penny on home decor.  I was successful and crated a handful of projects from items I already had on hand.

My Cork Ampersand and Gold Leaf Tray were two of my favorite.

One Room Challenge

I participated in not just one, but two One Room Challenges!

For the first challenge I tackled my Master Bedroom in the rental.  I wanted to use what I had on hand {of course} but jazz it up and ready it for when we moved into our new house.

The second challenge happened when I was in the middle of packing so I used my Mom's 2nd bedroom.  It had to function as a play/boys/guest bedroom, and boy did we pull it off!  She has used it several times for guest and the boys and it is perfect!

March was organize month and I got crazy organizing my blog, house, and life.  I also asked all of my favorite blogger friends to share an organizing tip that streamlines their life.

So many great ideas!  Curbly even did a feature of all of the best tips!  I am bringing it back in 2013... and I am ready for more tips ladies!

Color My World

I participated in the Color My World Challenge  and decided to add a little bit of Kelly Green into my house.  How fortuitous of me to pick such as trendsetting color!

I transformed some glass candle holders to my accessories and painted my entry table high gloss green with dipped legs.

Mid Century Modern Credenza

I came across this MCM dresser in a thrift store for... wait for it... $50!  I had a vision to make it into an entertainment credenza.  My favorite project of all time... so far!

Spring Into Action

This year seemed to be the year of challenges.  I participated in the Spring Into Action challenge and agreed to take on a project I have been putting off.  I was wanting to try my hand at custom art so this seemed to be the perfect chance.  I decided on an abstract piece that I loved in my rental.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and tried out ASCP on a dresser for one of my clients.  I wrote a tutorial on how to use it... it seemed pretty popular, but there was not many tutorials out there.  I am hooked and plan to use it a lot more in 2013!

Building A House

For most of the year we watched our new house being built.  It was so exciting to pick out the finishes and plan for what we wanted to do in the backyard.  Now it is time to make it happen in 2013... and 2014 and 2015 {it will take awhile!!}

Summer Camp Blogging Etiquette

This summer Cassie from Primitive and Proper and I came up with a fun series to address blogging etiquette {see series HERE}.  It was a great series were we all learned a thing or two about blogging!  I think we will be headed back to camp in the summer of 2013!

Savvy Bites

Cooking has always been a passion for me.  I mean you have to eat, so why not enjoy the process of making the food?  I was hesitant to add recipes to the blog because I usually just make things up as I go, but I got such a good response to the recipes I did post.  I will defiantly be sharing more next year!

5 Fall Favorites

We finally got keys to our new house, I knew I couldn't unpack and blog at the same time.  So I asked all of my fabulous blogger friends to share some of their favorite things about fall.

Mini Kitchen Remodel

The moment we got our keys we tore up the kitchen to add our personal touch to it.  We removed some of the cabinets to repurpose in the laundry room and removed the micro/hood.  Then we added a marble/glass mosaic backsplash and a stainless steal hood.  Then we replaced the cabinets with open shelving for a more modern update.  I may live in a track home, but I hope to make it look like anything but!

I think 2013 is going to be full of fun transformations to my new house.  I also plan to add more savvy lifestyle tips to truly be Living Savvy!
