Our House: Home Tour

This is the week we will FINALLY close on our house!

I am so excited!  This process started at the end of 2011 {the very end... we put our lot deposit down on Dec 31st!} and has defiantly had it's ups and downs over the last 10 months.  They broke ground in May and in Aug we thought we would not be able to get the house {due to a previous short sale, which I will post about soon}.  All the while they were still building and we were still moving out of the rental.  Then everything turned around for us and we were back in the house!  Last Friday we signed papers, Tuesday we will have our walk thru, and hopefully Wednesday we will have keys!

So in honor of closing on this chapter of getting the house, and opening the new one to making it our home, I thought I would give you a little tour before all of the stuff gets loaded in!

Front Door / Entry Way

This is the sight line from the front door!  I love that you can see straight to the back of the house!

And I also love that I have an actual entry way!  I think that is one of the most important things to me.. being able to greet guests in a space and not feel like you are on top of all of your furniture.  I have some great big plans for this small space!
{M loves to be in my photos.. Couldn't resist letting him stay in the pic}

4th Bedroom

Right off of the entry is a 3rd full bath and the 4th bedroom.  This will serve as the kids playroom and then will eventually become my office.

Living/Dining Room

Walking out of the entry way you come into the formal living/dining room.  Right along the long wall to the left {see first pic} is where I plan on putting my knotty pine buffet makeover {which I finished this weekend!!!}  Most people think this is a waste of space, but not for me!  I love the idea of being able to have a sit down dinner for 16 if I wanted.  I have before, but it was very cramped!

Great Room
{Kitchen & Family Room}

This is the family room.  It is not super large, but it is more than enough space for us.

It is right adjacent to the kitchen {which we will be customizing next weekend!!!} It makes the perfect space to entertain.  The size of the island is large enough to prep on while others can sit and chat.

This will be our largest pantry yet!  I have so many plans for organization!  I am also thinking about painting out the door a fun color... any suggestions?

 Since there was no option to make the cabinets run the full length of this wall we are going to install them ourselves.  We have an under-the-counter wine frig that has never actually been under-the-counter.  Our cabinets just happen to exactly match in-stock cabinets at Lowes... so excited for the extra storage and the large counter top it will have!

Hallway

Down the hallway there is a large double door closet that I will probably be turning into a sewing/project closet.

On this wall I plan to do something fun with family photos...

And here I will probably put a table to act as our "landing strip" as we enter the house.  But you know... the hallway is not at the top of my list!  The door to the right is the Master and then you turn the corner to the 2 other bedrooms, the 2nd full bath, and the laundry room.

Master Bedroom / Bath

The bedroom is not fancy, but it is big enough for a sitting area.  I am trying to talk the hubs into painting that back wall {in the picture above} a dark navy!  He hasn't said no... yet!!

Our bathroom is not huge, but it will get the job done!  Those light fixtures are basic, standard lights, no upgrade!  I have plans to take that mirror down and build a tower in the center of the sinks.  Again... not the highest room on the priority list!

Boy's Bath

Yup it is a bathroom...

Backyard

And here is why these rooms are not high on the priority list...

This is looking out of one of the boys bedrooms... we have a 1/4 acre lot that is a pie shape.

This is directly out of the slider looking to the fence in the pic above.... Huge plans for this space!

 This is looking out the Living/Dining side... and one day it will be the view of the pool!  Again why so many other spaces are so low on the list!!!

So that is the house before it becomes my home!
I will be {hopefully} tweeting moving and project updates {follow me here} as it is happening because I will be limiting my blogging time.
I will be back on Friday with an update of some sorts on the house!

And don't forget!!
 I have an amazingly talented list of bloggers filling in for me while I am away sharing their

Don't miss a single favorite!!
Have a great week!
