It is Monday =/.
I am currently on day 8 of the hubs being out on a fire strike team. {Warning: I am about to vent a little, but stay with me, I will get to design stuff in a minute!!} Now there is nothing more rewarding than fire season for my husband, well maybe playing the bagpipes for his fallen brothers, but when it comes to actually fighting fire he loves wild land. A good house fire is awesome, but days on end of hiking and watching the fire is truly what he loves. This action leaves me to be a single mom. I know there are many amazing women out there that are single moms every single day, and for that the tip my hat to them. But when you typically have a support system home 3-4 days in a row... you sort of get used to the help. On the bright side of this single mom situation, is the OT that is he racking up and the timing of this "windfall" if you will call it, could not be better!!!
I spent the weekend working on client projects and spending a little bit of time on my own family room design.
Here is the run down:
1. Sofa: We decided a few weeks back to begin selecting a new couch for the family room and we will move the old couch into our formal living room. We decided on this sofa. Now we just need to get the OT check to order!!
2. Cornice Fabric: I have one large window in the family room and one slider in the kitchen dining area. I want to make some simple, classic cornice boards for both windows... maybe add some nail head trim.
3. Pillows: Two of the pillows {chiang mai, and the lattice} I already have, and those work perfectly together. I wanted to add some navy so I think the navy with twigs will be a lumbar pillow turning the stripes horizontally.
4. Credenza: This is just to represent my MCM credenza that I refinished earlier this year.
5. Bamboo Roman Shades: These shades will go in the family room on the large window {and also the bedrooms}. I am so over the 2" white wood blinds! I love the way these will add texture to the room!
6. Slider Curtain: Underneath the slider cornice I will use transverse curtain rods to stack a double width of curtain panels to the right. They will be out of the way during the day and pulled closed at night for privacy.
7. DIY Marble Coffee Table: This is an inspiration picture of a coffee table I am going to make. I love the hairpin legs! I am currently hunting down a reminate of carrara marble that is the right size...
8. Chair Pillows: I am liking this bright fabric as pillows for my existing leather recliners.
9. Back of Parsons Chair fabric: I was planning on using my parsons chairs {that I have had forever} as dining chairs. Now {because of a reason I will share with you in a minute} I will use 2 at the head of the table. I am going to use this as inspiration:
10. Bertloia Counter Stools: I have loved these chairs forever! I am not use if I will get them soon, but they are on my "will have some day" list!!
11. Ikea Stockholm Rug: Also in love with this rug! I think it is the perfect accent to almost any space, and it may not be an immediate purchase, but it is on the same list as the counter stools!
12. Wall Treatment: The beige is the color we picked to have the whole house painted as an upgrade. I like the color despite it being a lot more beige than I wanted, but it is better than builder white. It really goes well with all of the other finishes in the house so I am going to keep it and add accent color to it. In the family room I am going to do horizontal stripes in the beige and white on these walls
I love that the sight line from the front door is going to end with stripes!
13. Inside Parsons chairs and new seat cushions: As I mentioned I wanted to use my parsons chairs for my dining table, but they need some new fabric. I was looking for something that was durable for 2 young boys, but also that was timeless so I didn't have to change it out when I was bored with them. So I thought outdoor fabric! Waterproof, and resistant... exactly what I need. I found this outdoor chenille that is so soft! And this will be perfect material for new cushions on the seats of this table I found on CL this weekend!
{as if this post wasn't long winded enough!!}
I scored this table, 5 chairs and two leaves for $160!! I love the tone of the wood because it is similar to my credenza, but I also love the traditional feel to it. The seats of the chairs are pretty scratched, hence my reasoning to make new seat cushions, plus I think the fabric will bring the two chairs together. Also since there is only 5 {weird #, right?} I have to add a parsons make six and two of them to add balance.
I love spending that OT $$!!
Those are my plans in detail.
What do you think?
**Warning**
All items and choices are subject and probably will change before, during, or after I move into the space!
But so far I like this a lot!

That dining setting...score!!! It'll look beautiful when it's done and with the other two chairs in the mix to!
Love the Stockholm rug too, I also have it on my list :) it all looks fab and especially the striped walls, cool idea!
It is tough doing it all on your own - I know when I have to, I'm practically out the door as Tonys coming in!! I'm usually sooo desperate for 'me' time!! And hey - it's your blog and you can vent if you want to ;-)
The best part of this post....THE LAST PARAGRAPH. LOVE IT!
Your floor plan is great and I really think your sight line to a striped wall is so chic and smart. This will take your home up many levels.
All your choices go beautifully together.
It will be so interesting following each and every step.
Love this plan! What an awesome score for the dining room! It's going to look great!
Your plans are looking great. I'm sure you'll make some changes, we always do! Hope hubs comes back soon (I'm often a 'single mom' too with my husband's line of work, but I manage okay).
Love the dining set!
The computer chair is looking a good design and pretty color. I like the tables placed in the yard.
Looking good, and every post looks better and better! Great find on CL :-)
