Week 4 is upon us and we are in the home stretch of the One Room Challenge!
If you have missed the first 3 posts you can check them out HERE. I am very happy with the way my mom guest/boy bedroom/playroom is turning out! Are you still fumbled with the name... it is a mouthful! But this small room is going to meet all of these titles when we are done!
This week I focused on transforming some of the furniture pieces {well the only furniture pieces} that were in the room. My mom is not typically a bold color person, but she has been wanting to pull a little bit of red into the house. When we were contemplating a color scheme for the room we could really think of a direction. Then I suggested painting the dresser we had yet to find a red. I pulled up some images of red dressers on Pinterest and my mom was hooked!
Since I have been on a ASCP painting spree I had to try the red! Emperor's Silk!
My mom went on the hunt for a 30"w 3 drawer dresser on craigslist and of course my mom found one with in 24 hours that was perfect and the perfect price! {Have I mentioned she is a craigslist master?!}
I also had this ladder shelf from J's bedroom that I knew I was not going to be using in the new house so I offered it to my mom. It was perfect to be multi functional... toys on the bottom shelf, towels and travel toilettes for guests, and little bit of pretty. The dresser was also black {sorry for no before pics}. I have loved using ASCP but I am not sure if it was the particular color, or the fact that I was painting over black... but these two pieces sucked up this entire can!!!
But so worth the color!!!
My mom and I are so happy with the pop of color! I love the contrast of contemporary red furniture companied with the very traditional floral pattern. I call it my mom Ralph Lauren equestrian print, but my mom doesn't like that too much!

ooh, that emperors silk is a gorgeous color!! Love it!!
Must've been the black I'd say, too, that it needed so much paint. It is a hard color to cover!
It's all coming along nicely!!
ooh i love that rick red! reds are always hard- unless you plan to glaze them, it's always best to use a tinted primer first to get a really solid finish.
The red looks so fresh and fantastic against your fabric choice! Looking good missy!!
Lovin your paint job girl!

I love the red, and my first thought was "very Ralph Lauren". It looks great.
The Annie Sloan paint is soo popular here right now! You used it like a pro as usual...no one can touch your mad painting skills. Looks awesome Tiffany.
