One Room Challenge Part II... Week 3

Week 3... halfway through! I am making progress on my moms guest/boys bedroom/playroom.  That is a very long title for such a small room!  But I think we are going to be able to pull off all of the titles beautifully and functionally!

This week we {or my mom solely} conquered all of the sewing that was needed for the bedding.  Remember the fabric we found... was 2 window treatment panels!  They were $12.50 each!  Both panels were over 110" long and 51" wide.  They were perfect to use as 2 separate duvet covers and maybe a pillow.  The fabric was just shy of being wide enough for the twin beds so we decided to add an accent panel to the sides.

To back the duvet cover my mom used a king size sheet cut in half.. one for each duvet cover!

My mom finished the opening off with snaps.  Super smart and it looks so clean.  She finished the edge and then folded it over once again and top stitched it.  I "made a note to self" for future duvet projects!

The bedskirts were also made with the accent fabric of the duvet.  And twin sheets were used underneath the mattress... see a pattern here!  Cheap and savvy but all custom and finished!

We both love the look of a quilt as a blanket and the bedding folded back so we found a simple king quilt and cut it in half.  My mom finished the cut edges with bias tape to match the other sides.

There was just enough to make 2 euro shams for the twin beds.  We decided on some large fancy trim to accent the fabric.

The room is starting to shape up and will live up to its full name of guest/boys bedroom/playroom!

Be sure to check out all of the other ladies hitting the halfway point in our challenge!

So that's where you learned to sew. I wish my mom could sew. Your mom did a fantastic job. This room will be so nice, her guests will never leave.

Wow, your mom has amazing skills! That is so wonderful and how cool is it to be able to do all that with store bought bargains!
Best of Luck Tiffany!

OK the snaps are kind of brilliant. One of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments. I mean really... my buttons NEVER stay closed.
