One Room Challenge Part II... Week 2

Good Morning!
I hope everyone had a great 4th!  I spent the better part of the day in the pool with the boys and then watched about $400 in fireworks!  The boys loved it and we all had a great time!

So onto my ORC update that I was suppose to post yesterday...

Last week I announced I was going to improve on my oldest son J room.  But as I have mentioned once or one thousand times, we are building a new house and I will be moving in a few months.  My house is covered in boxes, and all my mind can think about is packing!  It is so hard to get motivated to design anything for myself!  So my brilliant mom suggested I do her guest bedroom.

We have been working on my moms house for the last 3 months.  The house is only a 2 bedroom 2 bath and most of it was done.  My parents will live here in cali for 5 months and then go back to Hawaii for the winter months {hard life... I know}.  So this year my mom really wanted to finish her family room and her master bedroom.  Next summer we would tackle her kitchen, guest bedroom and bathroom.  But hey... what is one more room!

My mom would like this room to function as the boys playroom/bedroom most of the time, but also be capable of hosting her friends and family.  Since a 5 and 2 year old done really sleep well in the bed with each other my mom knew they needed to have their own beds.  So how do you have two beds apart and one bed together?  A day bed with trundle!

The layout has been a little tricky but here are some options we played around with...

Here are a few options for the "boys room."  We like the second option the best, but the boys like to have the beds out all of the time so the floor space was just lost...

This is how I think we are going to set up the bedroom for the boys.  The beds are both out, and we can maximize the floor space for playing.

Once my mom has guests she can push the two beds together to make a king!  {Soon, I will share how to do this and your guest will never know they are sleeping on two twin beds!}

This is how we will set it up for guests.  It is a good flow for two people and both have a nightstand.

Here is a little sneak peak on the fabric I will be using for inspiration...

Be sure to check out the rest of the ladies in this challenge with me!

I'm liking where you're taking this room to - multifunctioning this space is definitely tricky, but the final layouts make so much sense with minimal effort to move the furniture around... the fabric is a great teaser for what's yet to come! Looking forward to your next stage reveal :-)

How nice for you that your parents are close and want a room for the kids. I like your final plan. It was fun to see how it evolved. Good thing you work fast!

Love the plan you're going with and it'll be easier to push those beds together too!! And you can just concentrate on packing at your place - too easy!! Ha!! Just as well you love your job, and we'll be here to cheer you on seeing we can't all be there helping :)

I agree that the final plan is the best. Great inspirational fabric choice--so many great colors to pull from.
