Oh Happy Monday!
Did you all enjoy your hot summer weekend? Mine was equally spend poolside and working, so I totally can't complain! I spent some time working on my friends baby shower that is next weekend... and I am so excited to share the pics {but after the shower because the mom-to-be reads my blog!} And a huge shout out to my friend Shannon for getting all crafty with me! She says she is so not {crafty, but she is}... and she is always willing to help when she can!
Awhile back a very old college friend of mine asked me to help her work on her basement. You have seen her photography of my fam from Jamie Brook Photography on my blog. She is an amazing photographer and has equal skills in home design... but she has a sort of ADD when it comes to her own house. And frankly... who doesn't?!?!?! She asked me to make it easy for her, use something things she has, and keep it inexpensive. She rents a very cute little cottage in the south Bay Area, but with 3 boys ages 7-6 months they need a room to play and spread out. Her finished basement is the best option.. but she needs to make it livable to her standards!
Here are the before pics she shot with her iPhone
Her boys are into two totally different things... one kids is on his way to becoming a professional BMX racer {almost 7 year old} and the other spends most of his time in some sort of costume and will only respond to his characters name {4 year old}. She wanted to keep both kids interested in being down there, but also something that would grow with them. She has these amazing vintage double school desks that she really wanted to use. I love them!
To keep the playroom fun but functional I used a lot of the storage she already had down there, and mixed in fun pops of color and sports. The BMX pillows are super fun, and the skate board shelf keeps it functional.
I did 3 different space plans for her... almost 2 too many options! I love option 1 and 3. The wall of storage would be sort of cool! What option do you like the best?
Now she just needs to hit up Ikea and I will make a trip down to have a basement design party!

How lucky she is to have you design for her!! I pick room number 1 ... I love the flow and it makes the room cozy and functional!!
I agree with you. #1 and #3 are awesome. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
love the color scheme..number 3 is my fave layout, but they all look awesome!
Love them all, but I think I'd go with #2 actually.
