Have a great weekend! Now the meeting will now come to order!
Hello Living Savvy readers! My name is Christine, and I'm a spray paint-aholic. That's the first time I've admitted it out loud (or in writing rather), and it feels great!
I started my blog Park House Love a couple of months ago as I was just starting to get the ball rolling on a bunch of projects around our house. It was love at first sight for spray paint and I. In fact, we're still in that hot and heavy honeymoon stage where no matter what piece of decor, furniture or house related item I find, my hands itch to grab a spray paint can. So much so that I have yet to actually paint a piece of furniture with a brush...though that's coming soon!
My latest project involved revamping a lamp base that I found at a thrift store for $3. This lamp will eventually have a home in my office which I am elbow deep in the midst of making over.

I found a plain white drum shade at Lowe's to top it off and got to work.
First, I started by recovering the shade in some beautiful Pottery Barn Bettina fabric that I scored on ebay. It was as easy as:
1. Slowly trace a line about an inch or two out from each side along your shade as you roll it across the back of your fabric. It should curve up slightly.

2. Cut out your fabric.

3. Use a hot glue gun to carefully attach the fabric to the shade, pulling the fabric taught as you go.

Then ta-da! Custom covered lampshade!

The cherry on top was to spray paint the lamp base. I originally wanted to go for trusty old Rust-Oleum Heirloom White, but then I decided that I wanted the base to pop a little more against the shade. Enter Rust-Oleum Gloss Enamel in Night Tide. It's the perfect shade of peacock blue to accent the peacock in the fabric.

I love how the glossy finish glams it up too.

What do you think?
My new office color palette is white, gray and varying shades of blue so I think this lamp will make a nice accent piece in there...whenever it's done that is :).
Here are some past projects to show you how deep my love is for that oh so lovely spray paint can:

The $5 Formerly Super Ugly Side Table

1950s Stackable Filing Cabinet Makeover

Sunburst Mirror
Spray Paint-Aholics Unite!
First let me say.. I am so JEALOUS about that fabric! I will be searching ebay tonight!!! And B... who does't love the Night Tide from Rustoleum???? I can't wait to see your office reveal! Be sure to check out all of Christine's projects:

And now let us all repeat the Spray Painters Mantra:
Friends, help me source all the items I am searching for but can not find.
Give me the vision to think outside of the box and remember the can of spray paint,
and bless me with the patience to let each of the coats dry before I move on to the next step!
Cookies and coffee are in the back! =)

Love the fabric on that lamp and the color of the base is perfect! I too for some reason think I can fix anything with spray paint :) My husband has learned to just shake his head and walk away, haha!
I love Christine, Northern California bloggers unite! Pinning this so I can try to make a custom lampshade for our guest room!

What great projects! And I am loving that fabric!
Christine is so adorable, I love her! She did such an amazing job with that lamp!
I didn't even think of Lowe's for plain shades (mostly cause the hubs works for home depot). I've been looking at the ones at Target but Lowe's are definitely cheaper. Thanks for the recommendation!!
I absolutely love the lamp makeover. Well done! :)
Thanks so much everyone! Cheers to spray painting anything and everything despite the head shaking and long suffering sighs of our significant others :)
