A few weeks ago I shared my new container garden. In the end pots we planted two different tomato vines. Hoping they would grow {and they are} I knew I would need to pick up a few tomato cages to hold them up, but I just wanted something different.
So I decided to make something different!
I made these using 3/4" square dowels, 2 sticks of 3/4" scribe moulding, and paint stirs. I originally intended for these to be three sided, but a builder mistake lead them to be two sided, but I still think they look great and will do the job!
First I measured the scribe moulding to the size I was wanting. I thought 24" would would out great. So I measured and then cut all my scribe. Then I laid out all of the pieces to be spray painted.
Meanwhile, I cut down all the of the chevron lattice {the paint sticks} to size. I used a jig to measure out all of the pieces before cutting two at a time with my miter box.
Then I laid them out to be spray painted. I chose some fun bright colors to go with my colorful pots.
Using the scribe as the middle chevron support I attached the chevron lattice pieces with my air gun.
Then I measured for placement of them on the dowels. I left enough leg to be sunk down into the soil... about 9".
Then I stapled the chevron lattice to the sides. Now if I really wanted to make them 3 sided, then I should have attached the chevron lattice to the corners of the dowels. Next time... HA!
Simple, fun, and colorful! Can you see the small yellow flower? It will be a tomato soon! I am hoping for so many more!
Now it is your turn! Link up your outdoor building projects! I can't wait to see what you all have been working on! And be sure to check back next week to see some of the links I will feature!

Beautiful! I had been thinking the same thing...tomato cages are so ugly! Unless you pay $15.00 a pop for a pink vinyl one...not! You are so clever! xo wendy
