spray Painters Anonymous.... The Handyvergers

Hi!  My name is Kelly (or, Mrs. Handyverger, if you prefer), and I'm a spray-paint-aholic.

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem - that you are powerless over your addiction.  When it comes to spray paint, man, am I powerless!  I absolutely love reading about my fellow addicts' projects, though I think some folks might call it "enabling."   Tiffany, thank you so much for inviting me to guest post and for enabling my addiction!

By day, I'm an ICU nurse. It can be a pretty intense job, and I'm not always up for super-complicated DIY projects.  I love that I can transform a boring object into something much more personal and nifty with a simple can of spray paint!

For instance, I spray painted with the colors of the wind to transform Orangina bottles into adorable bud vases in the space of an afternoon.

Recently, I got my hands on some Rustoleum hammered copper spray paint, and I had a ball making things shiny with it.

The first victim item was a plain glass vase.

Pretty boring, right?  Not any more!

You can see the hammered finish a bit in this picture, and I had to show off the flash of turquoise on the inside of the vase.

And this is a very inexpensive basket that started out its life in boring matte black, all dressed up in copper.

I also transformed a pair of wicker baskets into something far more colorful, with spray paint and a little ribbon.

One was given a shiny turquoise makeover.

While the other became a lovely plum.

Why, yes, that is Halloween ribbon you see there!

Now it fits in with the bedroom perfectly.

Tiffany, thank you so much for hosting this meeting of Spray Painters Anonymous.  I'm pretty sure Mr. Handyverger is on the verge of staging an intervention, but maybe now he'll just be happy with the one spray painting rule in the Handyverger home:

No spray painting the cats.

Agreed!  No spray painting living things!  I love the turquoise basket... super fun color!  Don't forget to check out Mrs. Handyverger's blog

Kelly just freshened up her guest bedroom with a set of king size sheets... and you would never guess they were sheets!

And now let us all repeat the Spray Painters Mantra:
Friends, help me source all the items I am searching for but can not find.
Give me the vision to think outside of the box and remember the can of spray paint,
and bless me with the patience to let each of the coats dry before I move on to the next step!

Cookies and coffee are in the back! =)

If you need support for your spray painting addiction and would like to "attended" a meeting
please contact me!

We always love to know other addicts, and can always use more inspiration for our projects!

My mother has this addiction. Like you, she does some incredible transformations with that little can.
