We are in the home stretch! It has been very exciting to see all of the changes in my room as well as all of the other talented bloggers taking the challenge with me! Thank you for all of your comments about my lamp dilemma! I had some great suggestions! I love having a place to bounce ideas off of people with great style... it makes this process so much fun!
This week I focused on my bed. I am so excited... I have a new bed! No literally, I have a new bed. The hubs and I finally bit the bullet and purchased a Tempurpedic Mattress. But that is a whole different post.. back to the pretty!
My goal with this challenge was to reuse as much as possible currently in the room. So this week was just a lot of "juzzing" to what I already had!
On my todo list for this week was:
I am happy to say they are all done!
Before:
After:
I knew I wanted to add some more color and pattern to the room, but still keep the tropical feel. The tropical fern fabric was originally purchased by {who else} my mom for her Hawaii house. It was actually a duvet cover! She purchased two of them and they are printed on both sides of the cover... so I have a ton of this fabric. I first used it 5 years ago and still love it so I wanted to keep it in the room. Then I came across the amazing Chiang Mia Dragon in Aquamarine... and I thought there would go beautifully together.
I used the chair fabric as welting for the tropical pillow, linen welt for the orange lattice pillow because I backed it in linen, and a really fun seagrass welt for the Chiang Mai fabric. I am in love with the trim on that pillow!
I still really liked my linen headboard. When I made it 5 years ago I wanted to use the linen because I thought it would be a neutral fabric that could go with any style of decor. I pictured having something more modern, and edgy for my future bedroom... but the tropical vibe still has me! We simply modified the corners and added the nail head. I LOVE IT!
As I said... I am trying to use what I have so I added a little extra color to the bed skirt. I used my chair fabric and added on a 2" boarder of color. I love the way it brings the color down to the floor and ties all of the colors together!
So the room is moving along!
Here is the bigger picture of that wall. Do you think I can make a trend of the double lamp on the bedside tables? No? I am starting to like the look! HA! I would love to replace my duvet cover, but it is so neutral it is the perfect color. I just don't like how ill fitting it looks! And I would also like to find a peacock blue throw for the end of the bed.
For the next week I am going to tackle:
Painting and embellishing my nightstands
Address the bedside lamp issue
Create art for over my bed

Those pillowa are gorgeous! So jealous!
You got so much accomplished this week!
I love what you did with your headboard. Adds a lot of sophistication to the room :)
And your pillows coordinate beautifully. The fabrics you chose for the welting work so well.
Nicely done!
Tiffany that has made such a difference! Love the modified headboard and nailhead trim. And just that border on the bedskirt changes the whole look! Well done.
Love the border you added to the bedskirt! The room is really coming together!

I love everything about it! I'm starting on my master as well and I love what you did with your bedskirt. You've inspired me!! And the pillows are amazing. And the headboard! Love!!
what a pretty bed! Love the trim you added to the skirt and your headboard is awesome :)
This looks great. Wow, what a difference a few curves make on a headboard. The nailheads are just that extra touch that says sparkle. I love all the pillows. So cleaver to add the trim to the bottom of the bedskirt.
The nail heads are a wonderful touch! I love your fabric combos too. Adding the trim on the bed skirt was inspired!!

I love the changes to your headboard...the nailhead trim and shape are great. The green is the perfect accent on your bedskirt. My husband is dying for a tempurpedic mattress, but that's not in the plans right now!
Its looking great! I especially love the way the graphic orange lattice really ties together the two floraly patterns- it creates a really nice contrast.
I LOVE the headboard! Great job!

When I started reading this post I looked at the bed skirt and thought "oooh where did she get that??" so OF COURSE you made it!! It looks so so so good as do the rest of your fabric choices!
Your bed is lovely! The pillows are all gorgeous, and that border on the bedskirt just really looks amazing! Great job!
