How To: Chalkboard Welcome Sign.... No Spend Challenge

In between my current reupholster projects I have going on for clients and myself, I found sometime to squeeze in another DIY for my No Spend Challenge.

This frame has popped up a few times in my decor but it has mostly been empty.  The frame originally is from my mom and it used to have a chalk drawing of me and my brother from a vacation or something!  Maybe I will show you the picture one day... MAYBE!  But since I have added the blue to my decor this frame was an easy {and free} addition that otherwise was just sitting in my closet.

The project could not have been simpler!  I took the cardboard backing the picture already had and spray painted it with some chalkboard paint.  Now I know not everyone has chalkboard paint just laying around the house... but for $7 it is still a very savvy project!

Have you completed a No Spend Project?  Be sure to link up to the party on January 31st!

I seriously need to get my act together and stop spending money when I can just re-use stuff that I have lying around! I love this idea (I particularly love the message you wrote on the board!) and I desperately need somewhere to write my grocery list where I won't forget!

Love it! I made a chalkboard a few months ago from an old mirror, I write on it all the time. Love the message :) FYI I bought chalkboard paint at Walmart for less than $4.00 one can goes a long way. I plan on making more this summer and selling them :)

I love this idea and I particularly like that the reference to wine - let's get to what's important!

So simple and perfect. And the saying, well, you know I love it! I have a simple one in our kitchen but I really need to make a decorative one for the house somewhere.

I'm such an idiot, as I read your post, I was thinking "I wonder where she got the chalkboard and was it hard to cut?". Of course! Chalkboard paint.

I think I might snag this, I've got a few unused frames which are so prety.

Been thinking of doing this @ the beach house. Thank you for letting us know that chalkboard paint comes in a spray can. Going to Wallies in the morning for it & the cracked mirror spray paint. Hello Easy As Pie Projects.
