I have had most of my holiday decor out for almost 2 weeks now, but it never really feels like christmas until the tree it up and lit! I know there are some firm believers when it comes to having a fake tree... but I will ALWAYS have a real tree! I just love the smell of the them!
On Sunday we made our annual trip to Apple Hill to get our tree. I always have the hardest time picking a tree out. The hubs knows me so well and will make me walk around forever to find the tree that I am the most happy with. Typically every year we pick a tree that is too tall and too wide! Numerous years in the past he has had to complete shave off a side just to make the tree fit into the corner I wanted it to go in! But this year we actually picked out a tree that fit perfectly in the spot where I decided it needed to go!
I will admit that it is a little short for my taste, but it is full and fits perfectly! This year J was so excited to decorate the tree! Our ornament selection is all over the place. A lot of fire related things from the hubs and my dad {he is a retired Fire Captain... yes I married someone like my dad!} But I also have all of the ornaments from my Christmas tree growing up! One year I will have a tree that is completely me; designed with all matching ornaments and a color scheme... yada yada. But for now I love the old ornaments and the ones the boys made for me!
Did you see our Poler Express train? This is a tradition passed down from my hubs family. They always had a train around their tree and I love that we can pass it down to our boys. This is the first year we have actually had it down on the floor around the tree! And also... this is the first year I have an actual tree skirt!
I have never had an actual tree skirt. Well that is not totally true... I had a small red felt one the first year the hubs {then the live in boyfriend} and I had a small 3' tree. But every year since then I have just thrown a white sheet around the bottom and called it good. For some reason this year I thought we needed to have something little more fancy. It must have been my new found sewing skills kicking in... I will give a how to tutorial on it next week! This one took some thinking, and a few Skype calls to my mom but totally worth it in the end!
Do you have your tree up yet? Is it real or fake?

Beautiful tree! I put mine up and decorated it this week as well. Just want to add a few more finishing touches and then I'll be posting.
I love the natural shape of your tree:)
Ours was up the day before Thanksgiving this year! That is not the norm, but my youngest had his tonsils&adenoids removed the day after and I wanted to make sure he was feeling up to helping. We have a fake tree. I miss the smell of the real one, but it works better for us. I had a similar post about trees today. Hope you will stop by my new blog and tell me what you think!
Your tree is beautiful. I wish that I could have a real tree, but everytime I touch the greenery and then touch my skin I look like I have the pox!!! My husband is an excellent fluffer of the faux variety. I also use evergreen spray!!! I'm very JEALOUS of the real.
What a beautiful tree! I love the train around it. My son would be in heaven. I'm in the same boat with needing to put up ornaments that appeal to my three year old instead of my own taste. I figure that one of these days we'll have a bigger house so that I can have my own separate tree to play with.
Hi Tiffany! Your tree is gorgeous!
Just letting you know I gave you the Versatile Blogger Award over at funwiththefullwoods.blogspot.com :). HUGE fan of your great blog. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
