With the holidays right around the corner I feel like I am running out of time to finish all of my summer projects in my house.
Way back in July I started Piano Room Makeover, and I still have a few more projects to finish for that room. Although if you all were wondering... I did make a new pillow for the wingback chair and I LOVE it {I will share with you either tomorrow or next week.} My plan was to do my piano room in July/August and then move on the my kids playroom in September and be done in time for October and fall decorating. Well it is now Oct 13th and I am still in the process of both!
Oh well! At least they are not clients projects; but isn't that the story... a designers personal projects are always the last to be done?
Anywhoo... back the the actual post for the day... the playroom.
When I started this project I was actually very overwhelmed. Being overwhelmed is not my style... I usually get very excited about the thought of organizing anything {even how I arrange the clean clothes in the laundry basket as I walk it 10 steps to put it away}. But this room just made me ill! The first day I sat in there with my mom and just looked at her like "HELP, where do I start?!?!" I had let it get out of hand {not typically my style either} and now I know how my clients must feel with they say the same thing.
I am very happy with the way it has been organized and more than thrilled with the amount of toys I was able to weed out to donate or give to friends and family. That alone made the room feel less cluttered!
One quick trip to the Ikea and I was good to go! I used the spice racks for all for of the sticker and coloring book storage. I corralled all of the pens and crayons with the utensil hanging racks. I took the long magnet boards {originally from Ikea but already had} and turned them horizontally. I used the long red one for display of a well curated art collection {selected by J himself} and used the others to hold the Leapster games.
On the other wall I used more spice racks to hold books and I found those red mesh bins in the closet organizing department... they are laundry bins. They are super sturdy and hold ALOT of stuff!! The small blue on is from the kids department.. not all that creative there!
It is so almost done! I wish I could just snap my fingers and all of the finishing touches would be complete, but for now I can walk in to this room and actually enjoy sitting in there and play with my boys!

Great storage ideas!
What a great space to hang out! Love your clever organizing.
It looks great, Tiffany! So organized and colorful and I am sure your kids will try a little harder to put things away..it is all accessible and the best part is it also serves as wall decor.
