Thank you so much for your awesome comments! Yes, this is a winner... I am in love!
I will be honest and say that this is not the pillow I originally wanted to make. I had found something a little different on Pinterest and was set to make that pillow. But when I sat down to make it... I liked this design better.
Here is how to make it...
I started with two squares of 19" x 19". I already had a pillow that was this size, so you may need to adjust based on the size pillow you have. I also cut out 38 half inch strips that were 23" long. I actually used only 34 but to figure that out I took the size of square I had and times it by two. The pillow from pinterest used felt so that was my go to, but after thinking about it it would be hard to used a different fabric because of the twisting. Unless you like the back side of the fabric {which does happen sometimes} it would not work.
Next I pinned the strips to the edge, but leaving 1/2" space from the top to allow for sewing the actual pillow.
After all of the strips were pinned {as best as I could} I sewed them down one side.
Next I just started twisting and sewing... but this did not work out so well! I couldn't keep the seam straight and had to pull it out 3 times! If you look really hard you can see the sewing holes in the felt.. whoopsies! Oh well that is why they make seam rippers right ?!?!
Then I got smart and decided to mark out were I would need the strips to be seemed. It worked out for me to make them 3" apart but you may need to adjust based on the size of your pillow. Once I did that it was easy!!
Here is a detail of how I twisted...
This pattern is really forgiving. If you twist the wrong way one or twice you really can't tell. I know I did!
Once the strips are all sew continue on like your were going to sew a regular pillow.
Happy Monday!

I will be partying here:

Tiffany I love it! The texture that you created with the felt, and twisting it turned out beautiful, and you make the tutorial look manageable. I would love to make them in charcoal for my living room for winter.
