Hello, my name is Tiffany and I am a spray paint addict!
As most of you know I am addicted to spray paint! I am constantly spraying things in my garage {which I have been banned from spraying in... a now have to find somewhere else to do it}, I love that with in 5 minutes I have a whole new item for less than $1, give or take the item! Recently I finished with my Design Domino Effect {see progress post here, here, and here} in my main living area. This included the addition of a new office area, and a refreshing of my eating area and slider door.
My dining table centerpiece was ok but not really something I was in love with. But with a little spray paint... I love it!
Here is what it looked like before:
The tray was just a simple white tray from West Elm and the napkin holder I picked up at Homegoods for $2 on clearance. After spraying the navy Stokke chair and changing out the fabric on the chairs I felt it needed just a little pop of color!
I new I wanted to do something with the tray, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. I knew there would be spray paint but I thought some design, some fabric... then I decided against all of that. Fabric would be hard to clean when my 2 year old spills his milk on it and there really wasn't enough room on the sides to do a design justice. So I opted with spray in the inside bottom of the tray gold and the remainder red. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to tape off the gold.. I have had issue with this gold peeling off in the past so I had to come up with a different way...
So I took plastic wrap and placed it as close to the edges as it would allow me. Then with a little bit of tray exposed I taped down the plastic wrap with painters tape into the corners of the tray. This way the tape was touching as little as the gold paint as possible. I used a exact-o knife to cute the excess off of the sides.
Then I sprayed it red. I would have liked to go up the inside sides of the tray, but I barley was able to cover the bottom... maybe another project soon!
I I This combo is perfect together! But once I was done with the tray the wood napkin holder looked a little to rustic so I went outside to spray it but thought it needs to be dressed up a little bit.
So I printed out a M from word and blew it up to 200 font. Then I attached it with tape. I seriously forgot how I did this last time so I had to look up my own tutorial for my
monogram chevron plate and then I was good to go!
Once I had the letter cut out I removed all of the tape to reveal...
Next step was to spray... and then remove the M to expose the wood underneath! Easy Peesy!
It would be rude of me to not mention and thank my dear friend who brought me a huge amount from her garden today! The flower bouquet, tomatoes, and crookneck squash are all from her amazing garden!
This is just want my table needed... a little splash of color and a little bit of personalization!
***And now let us all repeat the Spray Painters Mantra:
Friends, help me source all the items I am searching for but can not find.
Give me the vision to think outside of the box and remember the can of spray paint,
and bless me with the patience to let each of the coats dry before I move on to the next step!
Cookies and coffee are in the back! =)
